Back in my second trimester (before I really needed maternity clothes), Meg and I had a shopping spree at the newest Michael Stars store in Ponce City Market. As a brand new momma-to-be, learning to adapt my wardrobe to my changing body has been a challenge. But, I’ve adopted a few tricks along the way, so thought I’d share a few of my style tips for the rest of my preggo reader friends!
- Size up. Instead of giving in to maternity clothes right away, I bought a couple shift dresses one size up for added comfort around the arm holes/bust and of course the midsection. I figure I can always belt them or add a jacket post-maternity to stretch the wear.
- Take advantage of wearing stripes. When else in your life can you wear stripes and not even think twice about it? Horizontal stripes are even better because they really accentuate all those growing curves.
Layer with stretch. Stretchy maxi dresses are my best friend! No, really, the maxi dress is a huge win for preggo ladies. Throw on a scarf, sweater, jacket or hat and let your summer maxi dress carry you well into fall.
