Last year, Brian and I got to attend the Monday practice round of the Masters in Augusta. We strolled the greens, hung out at Amen Corner, and tried our swing at the Berkman’s Place mini putting green. Every April, golf fanatics and and non-golfers alike descend on August National to experience some of the best golf in the world. With Augusta being a quick 2-hour drive from Atlanta, it’s a hot topic of conversation are town this week. All of our friends are trying to finagle last minute tickets and everyone is donning their colorful Masters shirts and accessories. Kathleen even has a little Master onesie that she’ll be sporting this weekend.
While my husband might disagree, to me, the Masters is about more than the golf. It’s about the verdant greens and azaleas in full bloom. It’s about the pimento cheese sandwiches wrapped in green and the sweet lemonade in collector’s cups. It’s about the peach ice cream sandwiches. It’s about all the fine folks decked out in their preppy finest. It’s about fighting your way through the gift shop to grab the perfect Masters gear.
This time last year I was picking out my perfect Masters outfit and fretting over which purse to bring. Lucky for me, this year Brian scored two badges for Sunday from a generous co-worker, so we’re counting down the moments until we set foot on Augusta National again. However, Sunday badges mean no phones and no cameras 🙁 So, since I won’t be documenting our experience this year, I figured I would share my photos from last years practice round since we got to bring in the nice camera!
Anyone else going to the Masters this weekend? What are you wearing?! Who are you hoping to see up close?! But, more importantly, what should I wear?!
