Working out on land is so 2015. Why burn your calories on the ground when you can burn them in the SKY? Okay, we exaggerate a wee bit – but jumping on a trampoline is our new fitness jam and we won’t apologize for it. Introducing the Atlanta trampoline workout!
To keep it real, I was pretty nervous about this concept. As a card carrying member of the torn ACL, MCL, Meniscus club I don’t get overly jazzed about jumping up and down on unstable surfaces – EVER. But, turns out our tramp-o-leeny tool actually puts less stress on your joints as is as effective as going for a run. Plus, stats very, but did you know that 10 minutes on a trampoline is equivalent to 30 minutes on the treadmill? #themoreyouknow.
The hot spot for
tramps (sorry, I had to. this is just too fun) a trampoline workout is DEFINE bounce. A 45-minute killer class of strength building for body, mind, and heart. It uses a mini-trampoline, lightweights, and resistance bands. It’s super high-intensity, so don’t expect to walk out of class without sweating like a pig, but also is low-impact. According to the wildly fit instructors who SWEAR by this class, it produces real results while prioritizing sustainable health for the joints and spine.
This class is rhythm-based. So you hear the beat of the music and you move to the beat. If the beat of the music is one-two, one-two, you’re jumping down on one. It’s a lot like a spin class in that regard, you want to keep your movements in sync with the rest of your class. Pro tip: if you have no rhythm…like AT ALL.. just do your best and keep a really crazy big smile on your face and get that crazy eye thing going. I think it freaks out the instructor a little bit and they tend to keep their distance.
I would like to leave you with the words of Gloria Estefan, who herself is an enormous fan of bouncing around rooms: “Come on shake your body baby, do the bounce class, I know you can’t control yourself any longer. Feel the hamstrings and the glutes getting stronger. Don’t you fight it till you’ve tried it.”
Note: we tend to embellish celebrity references on this blog. We also take liberties with song lyrics.
