When we’re still rocking Monday’s blowout, and wash/rinse/repeat is just not going happen, we have a couple no fail ways to avoid another day of the #basic summer lady bun. Here is our list of the best summer hair accessories (and shop our top picks below):
Cool Girl Barrette.
We’ve talked about our love for the Elizabeth Heard line of hair flair, and we still can’t get enough of her be. Also, Marnie from Girls is also a fan….so there’s that. Battette’s are having a moment and we are embracing every moment of it. We just bought this blue agate flair, and we can’t wait to rock it!
Fancy Bobby Pins.
Bobby pins are the workhorse of the group here. We all use them, we all want to cover them…but why? I say we celebrate the bobby pin for it’s ingenuity and support through all of these years. Pick up a couple that elevate your style. Fabric covered, precious metal or adorned – whatever get’s your motor running. Pin away, my friends!
Everyone looks cool in a baseball hat. Period. Think you don’t? Sorry, you’re wrong. I’m not advocating for baseball hats in the office or a fancy dinner, but to run around town, grab brunch with the girls or bum around the house…instant cool factor. Plus, they also block the sun from beating down on your precious face and giving you wrinkles and cancer. That’s pretty cool, right?
Stretch Elastic Hair Tie.
Kind of a no-brainer, but aren’t these SO MUCH better than the stiff hair ties that snap, but a crease in your hair, break your ends and generally wreak havoc on our lives? I’m so glad these elevated ties came along and saved us. I also love that they come in fun colors and designs. I don’t think anyone else notices, but it makes me feel better.
Some would say Gossip Girl brought headbands back – some of us say they never went anywhere in the first place. Headbands are an instant way to demonstrate that you have your life together – as long as you stick with traditional materials (think tortoise shell, metals and solid colored plastics.) Avoid oversized bows and sparkly accessories that make you look more floozy than fashionable.
