Atlanta has no shortage of amazing restaurants. There is LITERALLY an amazing dining experience around every corner, which is incredible, but it also makes planning a special meal…especially difficult. For our wedding anniversary we had some very particular criteria that helped us land on our dinner – and sent us to one of our favorite dining destination in the city –MAYA Steaks & Seafood.
A Romantic Setting:
Mawwage. Mawwage is what bwings us together today. Or at least is what brought us to Maya earlier this month. I have to admit, more than once I have forced my husband to celebrate our Marriage, that blessed arrangement, that dream within a dream, at our local slutty Mexican restaurant. ENOUGH he said. He wanted romance. He wanted candles and ambiance and the kind of environment that switches our your black napkin for a white napkin when you’re wearing seersucker. That’s why we picked MAYA Steaks & Seafood. Impeccable service, beautiful table arrangements, lighting that inspires. It’s the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to put down your cell phone a just chat – which is a business risk for a blogger – but I digress.
Something completely unique:
A dessert you can’t find anywhere else, an amazing view of the ocean (or mountains in ATL) or a fun live band are all examples of something utterly unique. Every Thursday (the day of our anniversary) MAYA Steaks & Seafood Spanish celebrates summer with live flamenco music. SO COOL. In fact, their musician is the super famous and absolutely incredible – Witold Tulodziecki. He played Nuevo Flamenco, traditional Flamenco, Smooth Jazz, Spanish and Latin music. We both loved that it was new and different.
Expansive cocktail list:
Nothing kills a meal for the Daws clan like a lackluster cocktail list. If you can’t make a darn good dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, a mean manhattan AND have enough wines satisfy both red and wine drinkers…you aren’t ready for how WE celebrate a special occasion. You never know if, when the special day arrives, it’s going to be a bourbon on the rocks or a champagne cocktail kind of night. That’s another reason we picked Maya. Not only do they have 1/2 priced all bottles of MAYA’s premium wine selection from 4:00-11:00 p.m. (TRUE STORY). Maya’s sizable wine list tends toward California and Spanish selections by the glass and bottle, just the way we like it. But wait, there’s more! They also gave us a complimentary glass of bubbles when they found out it was our anniversary! So sweet. They are amazing like that.
A good…no GREAT…steak:
My husband is a steak snob. He can smell a good steak from a mile away, and a bad steak literally ruins his week. It’s that important to him. So when he said he wanted a steak to celebrate (which, by the way, he always wants when it’s time to celebrate) that’s when we knew MAYA Steaks & Seafood was the answer. The word steak is in their name for a reason. Their aged steaks, sourced from Braveheart Black Angus Beef, include a 14-ounce New York strip and a 22-ounce bone-in ribeye, so there is a slice (or cut) of heaven for both of us.
My version of a steak is mac & cheese – and MAYA’s has white truffle oil. So, you know, two orders, please!

Thanks for having us over for a media dinner, MAYA! The service was perfect and we can’t wait to come back!
