If you’ve peeped our Instagram account recently you know we spend approximately 86% of our day eating either donuts or tacos. A life of consistency and calories is the life for me, ya’ll. So when a new taco joint opens up in Atlanta you’ll find me at the door, iPhone in hand and margarita glass ready to be filled. Enter: Rreal Tacos.
Fresh, responsibly sourced, seasonal ingredients make up the traditionally inspired menu, so you can feel good about what you’re eating. Rreal elevates the typical Mexican fare by offering crispy avocado (to DIE for) and housemade salsa. Here is where you’re really going to have to trust me…in lieu of chips and salsa (seriously, stay with me) try the pork trompo empanadas with salsa.
We tried a variety of customizable tacos – which are the the main attraction – with options ranging from beef barbacoa and chicken a la veracruzana to whole grilled fish, but Villarreal’s iconic pork trompo is the signature – so don’t skip it. All tacos are be served on soft corn tortillas and topped with organic cilantro, onion and lime. Add-ons such as serrano peppers toreados, shaved radish and salsa ranchera are available (but note: you have to pay for these), as will the option to upgrade to a variety of house made tortillas or even convert a taco to a quesadilla.
The fast-casual Mexican dining destination is located in the heart of Midtown, on 6th Street between Peachtree and Juniper Streets, and is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
