We are absolutely LOVING #classpass. Who’s with us? We’ve done our best to pound the pavement and visit as many boutique studios as possible, but so far these are our five favorites:
Stellar Bodies: Stellar Bodies is a combo of weight training and Pilates – which is perfect for us since we get bored with weights – but know that we NEED them! It’s great – you get the strengthening and toning benefits of weight training, and the lengthening and postural enhancing benefits of Pilates in a circuit training sequence. Stellar Bodies keeps the heart rate up and burns extra calories. The routines incorporate “old school” exercises such as push ups and lunges, however, the support of the Megaformer™ eliminates the pressure on joints and the spine.
Barre to Bar advice: You are going to be pretty sweaty and your muscles will be screaming at you. We recommend Bar Taco margaritas (their new location is RIGHT next door) and guac. Because guac is like the healthiest thing ever invented. Balance the health with chips and something with lots of cheese.
Pink Barre: Clearly we are addicted to this place. It’s such an energizing vibe and the owner Tara is SUCH SUCH good people. If you can take her class at the Buckhead studio, do it. And then tell her we say hi. (<<<waves at Tara!!!>>>) We also tried out the Sandy Springs studio for the first time, and OMG the natural light in the studio is amaze! Maureen #ftw – she had us practicing our best music box ballerina moves.
Barre to Bar advice: Nothing beats Pink Barre as a pregame for brunch or cocktails. You can get out of there with a healthy glow and glisten and head pretty much anywhere. We recommend stopping by The Big Ketch for an Easy Breezy– Effen Cucumber vodka, elderflower liqueur, low-cal lemonade, and soda. Balance with coconut fried shrimp. Brain food, y’all.
FORME Studios: This workout is a fashionista’s delight. Say what? YES. Virginia Highland classes are located inside Atlanta Activewear. If you’ve never been to Atlanta Activewear you are missing out on the best sale rack in the city. So for our fitfam ladies who are barring on a budget (raises hand!) this place is a must. We especially love this place for the arms! They target large muscle groups and work every section of the arms, shoulders, and upper back to sculpt and build a strong frame. It’s killer. In a good way.
Barre to Bar advice: This studio is in the HEART of Vi-Hi which means the possibilities are endless when it comes to cocktails, lunch, dinner – whatever you are looking for. We are huge fans of the Yeah! Burger fried chicken salad. Don’t judge us for getting a salad at a burger place, okay? It needs to be done. But we’ve been dying to try George’s for a burger. We’ve heard they are the best in the city. Can anyone confirm?
Red Hot Yoga: So, real talk, I HATED this place the first time I went. In fact, I had a huge diva moment and announced in class that I was, “I mean, so done.” But then I got over myself, and learned to love it. Hot yoga is amazing. It allows you to really invest in the poses. After classes I was more flexible than I’ve ever been and felt totally detoxed. It cured a hangover, helped clear my skin (weird, right?) and worked out my soreness from a tough run. #amazeballs.
Barre to Bar advice: Girl, please. You aren’t going anywhere after hot yoga. You look like you just jumped in a pool and you smell like a gym sock. You’re done. Go home, pour yourself a glass of Kim Crawford and relish in your zenned out bliss. Or stop by Whole Food for a beet smoothie – the yoga pant wearing moms and hippies will give you silent props for coming in there looking an athletic mess. #butfirstwine
Exhale Atlanta: I’m (Meg) a member of Exhale, and a complete addict. I can’t say enough great things about their barre and yoga classes. If you can snag a spot in a morning yoga class with Stephanie, DO IT. Your day will instantly be better for it. If you can grab a spot at the barre in Tiffany’s class (easier said than done) your body will thank you. And anything Brianna touches turns to fitness gold – it is going to be HARD and will challenge you in the most awesome way. Come for the hammam, stay for the class. #realtalk
Barre to Bar advice: This one is a no-brainer because Exhale has the BEST showers and locker room! Grab a quick shower and head on down to STK to
undo balance all of the progress you’ve made! I’m never the girl that passes up the free bread, and it’s AMAZING here. Order a dirty martini (one of the strongest in the city) and add a filet for PROTEIN of course!
